Speech and Language Therapy treatment plans are designed based on individual needs, strengths, and goals. Please contact us to determine which services will meet your child's or family member's needs. Our certified staff provides expertise in a variety of areas. This allows us to best match each client with a specific therapist that specializes in an area that will best meet their needs. All therapists are state and nationally certified.
Language Therapy -Specialized programming is available for individuals with expressive and/or receptive language needs, developmental delays, and language processing difficulties. Goals include developing strong communication skills as well as increasing communicative confidence and reducing frustration.
Articulation Therapy - Treatment plans are designed based on individual need to treat apraxia of speech, phonological disorders, developmental delays, and mild speech needs.
Social Skill Development - Individual and group therapy is available to address social language development. Treatment includes promoting the carryover of skills to "real life" settings.
Oral Motor Skills - Programs to improve oral motor strength and range of motion for feeding and speech are available. When applicable, instruction is provided to increase safety with oral feeding.
Fluency - Full assessment and treatment are available to address dysfluent speech ranging from mild to profound. Strategies to use at home and school to promote carryover of fluent speech are also provided.
Voice Therapy - Programs address adequate breath support, vocal health, and reducing vocal abuse.
Aphasia and TBI- Individuals with a Traumatic Brain Injury or Aphasia are fully assessed and provided with a treatment program to address needs based on infarct, symptoms, and strengths. Home care strategies are taught to family/friends.
Language Needs for Individuals with Autism - Individual and group therapy sessions are available. Our Speech Therapists are knowledgeable in local autism treatment programs and will work collaboratively with additional therapists, family members, and local supports. Our location in the Hyperbaric Center is designed to provide support for consultations with DAN! Doctors, special dietary needs, and a variety of other specialties offered by the Center.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication - Evaluation, training, and maintenance of AAC devices ranging from low tech to high tech, aided and unaided, is available.
Academic Support - Difficulties with speech and language can significantly reduce classroom success. We provide support for elementary through college age individuals by addressing language based needs such as note-taking, test taking, material review, and overall academic success. We are willing to work with school IEP teams to facilitate carryover of progress made in the clinic.
Consultative Services - - Includes development and review of IEP goals, educational advocacy, classroom strategies, and support in the classroom, workplace, and "real world".
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on an individual's ability to participate in daily life activities or "occupations". An Occupational Therapist works with individuals of all ages to enhance their participation in and performance of activities of daily living (i.e., feeding and dressing), education (i.e., handwriting and classroom routines), work, leisure activities, play (i.e., accessing play areas, utilizing fine motor skills and interacting with peers), and social participation.
For children with development disorders such as Autism, OT can provide strategies to help facilitate a child's participation in daily routines (at home, school or in the community), help plan developmentally appropriate activities and identify needed assistive technology devices and supports.
Our OT department is excited to offer the Handwriting Without Tears program. This program is designed for any child who is struggling (or just looking to improve)printing or writing skills at any level. In the kindergarten program, body awareness, proper grip of the writing utensil, shape recognition and number/letter formation is taught. For children learning printing and cursive writing, fine motor skills, posture and proper developmental sequences are taught. Prevention/correction of number/letter reversal is also addressed with the program. Hands-on manipulatives, music and multisensory activities, are just some of the tools used in HWT.
